When is the best time to schedule a newborn photography session?

The ideal time to photograph newborns is within the first 5 to 14 days after birth. During this period, babies are more likely to remain sleepy and flexible, allowing for a variety of peaceful poses. We recommend booking your session during your pregnancy to ensure availability around your due date. I only reserve a certain amount of due dates per month so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

How long does a newborn session last?

Newborn sessions typically last between 2 to 4 hours. The session duration includes the full process — preparing and setting up the shooting area and equipment, baby posing, feeding, changing, soothing and any necessary breaks. Each session is baby-led and follows a calm, unhurried pace, always guided by your baby’s needs and what feels comfortable for both baby and parents.

Do we need to bring outfits for our baby?

For a classic newborn session, you don't need to worry about outfits for your little one. We provide a selection of delicate, custom-made props, including soft wraps, dainty headbands, and cozy hats, designed to complement the timeless style of your newborn's portraits. These items are chosen to enhance the natural cuteness of your baby while ensuring they are comfortable throughout the session. 

Where do the newborn session take place?

All newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your home. For the session, I need approximately 1.5 × 2 metres of clear space. This can be a bed or a suitable area of the floor with a flat surface.

I bring everything needed for the session, including professional photography equipment, lighting, wraps, fabrics and simple newborn props in neutral tones.

 

 

Can family members be included in the newborn session?

Absolutely! We encourage the participation of parents and siblings in the newborn session. Family shots are a beautiful way to capture the new relationship and bond. Just let us know in advance, so we can plan the session accordingly. The minimal package however does not include sibling poses.

How should we prepare?

After booking, you will receive a preparation guide with everything you need to know before the session, including how to prepare your space, what to wear and what to expect on the day.
